Batemans Bay Orchid & Foliage Soc Inc. was set up in February 2005, to give the people of the Batemans Bay district a chance to learn how to grow and perhaps show their orchids.
We meet on the 1st Monday of each month (except January) at Batemans Bay Soldiers Club.
Plant benching is from 6.30pm til 7pm and main meeting starts 7.30pm, during the warmer months and during the cooler months it is a 1pm set up, with benching concluded by 1:30, for judging to start. The formal part of the meeting starts at 2pm.[May through September]
Visitors are always welcome.
We have several guest speakers each year to assist members in learning how to grow different types of orchids.
There are three orchid shows each year,
Winter Show in July,
Spring Show in September
and our Australian Native Orchid Show in October.
All shows are held in the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club's main auditorium, with free entry for the public.
Our club emblem is a photo of our Australian Native Orchid, Sarcochilus falcatus, commonly called the orange blossom orchid, mainly because its sweet fragrance resembles orange blossom.
